Avifauna — Bird Monitoring Dashboard

A bird monitoring dashboard for sanctuary field teams — ringing, recapturing, and resighting data in one calm, data-dense workspace. Designed end-to-end in Figma with project navigation, collaborative upload flows, and structured tables for species, sites, and ring metadata.

Challenges

  • Making dense ringing and recapturing tables scannable without losing scientific detail (ring no., flags, sex, site, timestamps).

  • Structuring multi-sanctuary project navigation so field teams can jump between sites without losing context.

  • Balancing a nature-inspired visual system with the clarity needed for operational data work.

Solutions

  • Designed a project-first sidebar with searchable sanctuaries and clear active states for the current site.

  • Separated ringing vs recapturing into focused tabs with consistent column hierarchy and status accents.

  • Used a soft blue–orange palette and restrained chrome so data stays primary while the product still feels on-brand for Avifauna.
